Install a ledger board just below this line to hang the upper cabinets atop.
Secure upper cabinets to wall studs and adjacent cabinets with cabinet screws.
This type of hangar is visible and not recommended for kitchen cabinets but can add a tremendous.
Next outline where the first cabinet will hang.
One side screws into the wall studs.
The other side screws into the top and bottom of the cabinet.
At the shim locations counterbore and fasten cabinet to the floor with deck screws without washers.
With the cabinet seated against its shims drive 2 inch deck screws with washers through the cabinet back and into the studs.
Draw a vertical line to line up the edge of the first cabinet to be installed.
For hanging cabinet use 3 1 2 inch screws set directly into the studs for screwing the cabinet bodies together use 1 1 2 or 2 1 2 inch screws depending upon the thickness of the cabinet body and if they have face frames or not.
And drill clearance holes for the mounting screws.
Finally mark the stud locations.
Set the second cabinet into position and line up the faces so that they re even at the bottom and across the front.
Start with the corner cabinet and measure up from the line you drew to the height of the cabinet.
Clamp the cabinets together and drive screws into the back again just tight enough to hold the cabinet in place for now.
To join frameless cabinets use wood screws that are just shorter than the thickness of the two cabinet sides.
Use shims in the back to make it plumb.
